Well our Bastille Day celebrations went very well ... great food, gorgeous company and fabulous French wine! We cooked all day and the menu was fit for Napoleon! Coquille St. Jacque for entree, Boeuf Bourguignon with potato grattine for mains and Crepe Suzette for dessert. It was a feast for the palette! We shopped at Susan’s Fine Food not far from where we live and picked up some yummy French things - smelly cheese, baguettes and cornichons. MMMMMMMMMMmmmm - delicious!

In stark contrast, today was very low key .... very relaxing with a picnic by the waterfront and special time with my family before my boys start school again tomorrow.

On the bead front this week, I have some lovely goodies to share with you .... beautiful earrings and bracelets made up with the silver I bought the previous week at the Brisbane Bead and Gem Show. It’s amazing how different “the look” is when you change the components you use. I’m loving the new look and will start my search for new and different silver findings from my local silver distributors.

Keep coming back for new pieces that I will post throughout this week!

Bastille Day

July 9, 2007

What a busy month its been and already we have started the second half of the year. This week the world prepares to watch the Tour De France, which this year started in England. The official web site will keep you updated with the current happenings - at the moment, Australian Robbie McEwan is in poll position.

The are more things French to make as feel more at home in the coming days and weeks. Next week we celebrate Bastille Day and some time soon, we watch the French play in the  World Cup Union. More updates on both these events in next week’s update!!!

Yesterday I had a lovely day with my friend Lesleyanne and her daughter Sheridan. We went to the Brisbane Bead and Gem Show. It as a good day with lots of adventures! The crowds were down but that was good. More room for us to move about in. There were lots of lovely things to tempt us .... displays and demonstrations, new products and stall holders and of course the ol’ favourites: silver and glass. This is my stash .... I thought I exercised extreme self control having bought only this much. It will keep my busy for a while as think of new ways to use these stunning  silver beads in my jewellery.

bead show booty!

I promised to keep you informed of my exhibition happenings at the Hilton Hotel in Brisbane. A few weeks ago I attended the opening soiree of an exhibition hosted by the Red Hill Gallery. It was a wonderful evening and I was so excited to see my work on show, alongside other very talented artists. Drop in and have a look if you’re in the city! The show is being held on the 6th Floor, Hilton Hotel - Brisbane and runs for another 4 weeks or so.

On the bead and jewellery front this week, I have some new earrings up in fabulous colours and new designs. Some of these match nicely with these  new bracelets - but of course, there are little rules for wearing jewellery these day so you wear what you want in whichever way suits you!
